GIE enhances AGSI & ALSI for improved gas market transparency

March 13, 2023

Following the adoption of the Council Regulation (EU) 2022/2576 in December 2022, new gas market transparency requirements were put forward. In this respect, GIE has further upgraded its AGSI and ALSI Transparency Platforms to comply with those requirements.

What’s new:

Extended data reporting
Since 28.02, the AGSI and ALSI daily inventory publication also cover contracted and available short-term capacities as provided by operators, which is further complemented by an LNG Regasification Capacity Forecast. Additionally, Transparency information as provided by Storage Operators and LNG terminals is now centrally published on AGSI and ALSI, covering information on services offered, conditions and technical information for each facility. A dedicated section offering a centralised overview on storage capacity products tariffs and LNG Tariff structures is also available. Storage operators publish their maintenance schedules and outages on AGSI, which is now also available through a schematic GANTT view. Next to each dataset published on AGSI/ALSI shortcut icons offer direct access to the above-mentioned subsections.

Enhanced data coverage for EU27
AGSI welcomed 10 new SSO on its platform since 2022, progressing towards a 99,85% coverage for EU27. One more German SSO is expected to join soon, bringing AGSI data coverage to 100% of EU27 countries for the first time ever.
On ALSI, several new FSRU have been added, at least 6 more LNG terminals are in progress to be added as well, upholding the 100% coverage for large-scale LNG terminals in EU27 on its LNG Transparency Platform. 2 more new terminals that are starting commercial operations are expected to join ALSI end this week. A new section “covered capacities (%)” data field now indicates explicitly for each country how many facilities are comprised in the data aggregations on AGSI and ALSI.

GIE Transparency Workshop
GIE will organise a Transparency Roundtable Workshop on these new AGSI / ALSI developments in March. Please subscribe to our mailing list to stay updated.

About  ALSI and AGSI:
On AGSI, 60 storage system operators (SSOs) are currently providing daily inventory reporting on 161 storage facilities in 20 European countries. In EU27, storage facilities represent 1123 TWh of total working gas volume. On ALSI, 19 LNG system operators offer daily inventory and regasification status on 22 LNG terminals from 11 countries, representing 53 TWh of LNG storage and 6 TWH/day regasification capacity in EU27.

With these efforts, GIE confirms its dedication to enhancing transparency towards the market and will continue to improve its Transparency Platforms.
