The Plenary of Gas Storage Europe (GSE) elected Lubor Veleba its next GSE President. Lubor Veleba has been member of the GSE ExCom since 2005 and GIE Board member from 2011. Lubor Veleba succeeds Nicole Otterberg who has served as GSE President since 2013.

In addition, GSE members elected new three GSE ExCom members: Claus Obholzer (E.ON Gas Storage, Germany), Cécile Prévieu (Storengy, France) and René Zwanepol (TAQA, The Netherlands). The appointments took effect on 1 January 2016. The new members will work together with the GSE ExCom members with current mandates Adam Elbæk (Energinet.dk), Georg Dorfleutner (RAG), Gaetano Mazzitelli (Stogit), László Fritsch (Hungarian Gas Storage).

Since 2007, Lubor Veleba is a Director at RWE Gas Storage, s.r.o. with responsibility for the sales and finance aspects of RWE’s gas storage business in the Czech Republic. In his previous roles at RWE, Mr Veleba was involved in regulatory affairs in the Czech Republic and his tasks included a 5-year regulatory review and developing market principles for the planned liberalization of the Czech gas market. Lubor Veleba also serves as a member of the board of Czech Gas Association.

Lubor Veleba said: “Gas Storage Europe will continue to be a trusted partner to the EU institutions in delivering the energy vision for Europe. GSE has worked hard on transparency issues, by establishing the AGSI+ platform, and will continue its work on market rules, security of supply and the role of gas storage. ”

And he added: “I value the contributions of the outgoing GSE President Nicole Otterberg and her predecessor Jean-Marc Leroy, now GIE President. Year 2016 will be busy and challenging but I feel privileged to lead GSE and look forward to working with a team of dedicated people who can add value to the discussions with EU decision makers and stakeholders.”
