Gas Infrastructure Europe publishes the System Development Map 2013 in cooperation with the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Gas (ENTSOG)

November 12, 2014

Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE), in cooperation with the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Gas (ENTSOG), has published the fourth edition of the map illustrating the development of gas supply, demand and infrastructure over 2013 and the first quarter of 2014.

Based on feedback received on the previous editions, the new map covers additional information such as the daily profile of supply. Graphical layout has also been improved in order to bring more clarity to the information.

Thierry Deschuyteneer, GIE Executive Secretary, said: ” Infrastructure operators are committed to offer useful information to stakeholders and the new System Development Map is a good example of this. Over the last years it has become a reference.”

Vittorio Musazzi, ENTSOG General Manager, said, “ The System Development Map, like the Seasonal Reviews, inform about the last supply and demand trends. I hope that this fourth edition will continue to be useful to the market and institutions for their analysis.

GIE and ENTSOG are committed to further enhancing the information provided on the map in the future and welcome feedback from stakeholders.

The map is available for download on the GIE and ENTSOG website.

Note to editors

  • Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE) is an association representing the interests of European natural gas infrastructure operators active in natural gas transmission, storage and LNG regasification. GIE is a trusted partner of European institutions, regulatory bodies and industry stakeholders. It is based in Brussels, the heart of European policymaking.
  • GIE currently represents 68 member companies from 25 countries. Its internal structure has three columns corresponding to the three types of infrastructure activities represented: GTE (Gas Transmission Europe), GSE (Gas Storage Europe) and GLE (Gas LNG Europe), all of which fall under the umbrella of GIE. This structure allows member companies to speak with one voice on infrastructure topics as well as to build positions on column-specific issues. To find out more about GIE’s structure and activities, please visit the website at www.gie.eu .
  • The European Network of Transmission System Operators for Gas (ENTSOG) was founded on 1 December 2009 in line with Regulation (EC) 715/2009. The current number of Members, Associated Partners and Observers can be found at this link .
  • In line with Articles 6, 7 and 8 of the Regulation (EC) 715/2009, ENTSOG has the task of formulating network codes in a number of areas and of adopting various communications: a non-binding community-wide Ten-Year Network Development Plan on biennial basis; Winter and Summer Supply Outlooks; common network operation tools; recommendations relating to the coordination of technical cooperation between community and third-country-TSOs; annual work programmes and annual reports.
