GTE - Gas Transmission Europe - PRESS RELEASE

Press Release

Gas Transmission Europe (GTE) members re-elect Stephan Kamphues as their President

GTE members unanimously re-elected Stephan Kamphues, Chairman of the Management Board of Open Grid Europe GmbH, as GTE President. Stephan Kamphues is also ENTSOG President and he is a member of the GIE Board since 2009.

Upon his election, Stephan Kamphues said: “I am honoured to be re-elected and to continue leading GTE after the restart of its activities last year. I would like to thank GTE members for their trust in me. GTE does not only support the further development of Europe’s gas infrastructure but also works on topics like the advancement of the sustainability of energy supply and an improved investment climate.”

In May 2013, TSOs gave a clear mandate to GTE to reactivate this column within Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE) and set up a clear and widely supported working programme. For this reason four working areas were established by the GTE Plenary. The re-election of Stephan Kamphues will now continue the support of the ongoing GTE activities, such as working on solutions for future investments in infrastructure, developing new technologies for the sustainable future and better cooperation with gas producing countries.

While ENTSOG mainly focuses on the tasks given by the Third Energy Package (network codes, TYNDP, etc.), GTE carries out other activities, such as lobbying for TSOs. Together with GSE and GLE columns of GIE, act as the common voice of the gas infrastructure industry towards European policymakers.

Note to Editors

Gas Transmission Europe (GTE) represents 30 member companies from 25 countries, gathering Transmission System Operators (TSOs) across Europe.

GTE is committed to actively contribute to the design and implementation of a transparent, secure, sustainable and competitive gas market in Europe underpinned by a stable and predictable regulatory framework as well as by a sound investment climate.
