  23 March 2020

ENTSOG and GIE Members maintain gas infrastructure operations during coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic

Brussels, 23 March 2020

European gas infrastructure plays a vital role in ensuring essential services are maintained for the good of European citizens, communities and their economy. In light of the recent coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, GIE and ENTSOG would like to provide assurance that European Transport System Operators, Storage System Operators and LNG System Operators are safeguarding business continuity so that essential services are maintained.

ENTSOG and GIE Members will continue to monitor and implement the advice and guidelines provided by national authorities for the protection and well-being of their staff, while specific and appropriate preventive measures are being taken to ensure the smooth operation of the gas infrastructure.

Should you require any further information, please contact Carmel Carey (+32 2 8945136, carmel.carey@entsog.eu) or Jamila Saoudi (+32 2 2090500, Jamila.Saoudi@gie.eu).

Note to editors

  • European Network of Transmission System Operators for Gas (ENTSOG) was founded on 1 December 2009 in line with Regulation (EC) 715/2009 to promote the completion of the internal market for gas by facilitating cooperation between national gas transmission system operators (TSOs) across Europe and in line with European Union energy goals. More information can be found on the ENTSOG website – www.entsog.eu. The current number of Members, Associated Partners and Observers can be found at www.entsog.eu/members.

  • Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE) is the association representing the interests of European gas infrastructure operators active in gas transmission, gas storage and Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) regasification. GIE is a trusted partner of European institutions, regulatory bodies and industry stakeholders. It is based in Brussels, the heart of European policymaking. GIE currently represents 70 member companies from 26 countries. GIE’s vision is that by 2050, the gas infrastructure will be the backbone of the new innovative energy system, allowing European citizens to benefit from a secure, efficient and sustainable energy supply.
