Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE) members re-elect Jean-Marc Leroy as their President

The General Assembly of Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE) held today in Brussels re-elected Jean-Marc Leroy for one more mandate as GIE President. Jean-Marc Leroy has been member of the GIE Board since 2005 and served as GSE President from 2008 to 2012. He was firstly appointed as GIE President on 2015.

  Jean-Marc Lery

Since 1 July 2016, Jean-Marc Leroy is Managing Director for Gas Chain at ENGIE. Since 2009, he was Chief Executive Officer of Storengy, the underground gas storage operator of ENGIE. He previously held several senior positions in the infrastructure business: Deputy Vice President of the gas transmission division at Gaz de France and responsible of LNG terminals and storage activities of GDFSuez. GIE is the European association of gas infrastructure operators in the area of transmission, storage and LNG. Currently, it represents 69 member companies from across Europe. Jean-Marc Leroy said: “Gas Infrastructure Europe has always been committed to developing a fruitful cooperation with EU policy makers and stakeholders and to be a platform to strengthen ties between infrastructure operators. I am deeply honoured to be entrusted the Presidency of GIE for a second time and I will strive to further reinforce the association and to continue developing a strong voice for gas, as well as promoting the development of innovative solutions.”

Note to Editors

Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE) is an association representing the interests of European natural gas infrastructure operators active in natural gas transmission, storage and LNG regasification. GIE is a trusted partner of European institutions, regulatory bodies and industry stakeholders. It is based in Brussels, the heart of European policymaking.

GIE currently represents 69 member companies from 25 countries. Its internal structure has three columns corresponding to the three types of infrastructure activities represented: GTE (Gas Transmission Europe), GSE (Gas Storage Europe) and GLE (Gas LNG Europe), all of which fall under the umbrella of GIE. This structure allows member companies to speak with one voice on infrastructure topics as well as to build positions on column-specific issues.
