ENTSOG publishes the System Development Map 2017/2018 in cooperation with Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE)

December 13, 2018

The European Network of Transmission System Operators for Gas (ENTSOG), in cooperation with Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE), has published the eight edition of the map illustrating the development of gas supply, demand and infrastructure over 2017 and the first quarter of 2018.

This high-quality map is updated on a yearly basis and is a widely used reference for European and non-European stakeholders alike. It provides useful, accurate and up-to-date information about the recent gas demand in European countries and the capacities in the European gas infrastructure.

Jan Ingwersen, ENTSOG General Manager, said, “Like ENTSOG’s Seasonal Reviews, the System Development Map informs about the last supply and demand trends, and is thereby a useful means by which market stakeholders can undertake analysis. We hope you visit our website to order the maps online or download the electronic version.”

Boyana Achovski, GIE Secretary General, commented: “GIE and ENTSOG members are jointly demonstrating, once again, their commitment to offer useful information to all interested parties, in a transparent and user-friendly way. We believe that the System Development Map will continue to be a reference and an important tool for the industry and the stakeholders.”

ENTSOG and GIE are committed to further enhancing the information provided on the map in the future and welcome feedback from stakeholders.

The map is available for download at the ENTSOG website, here and GIE website, here .

All maps published by ENTSOG can be ordered at https://maps.entsog.eu .

Note to editors

European Network of Transmission System Operators for Gas (ENTSOG) was founded on 1 December 2009 in line with Regulation (EC) 715/2009. The current number of Members, Associated Partners and Observers can be found at this link .

In line with Articles 6, 7 and 8 of the Regulation (EC) 715/2009, ENTSOG has the task of formulating network codes in a number of areas and of adopting various communications: a non-binding community-wide Ten-Year Network Development Plan on biennial basis; Winter and Summer Supply Outlooks; common network operation tools; recommendations relating to the coordination of technical cooperation between community and third-country-TSOs; annual work programmes and annual reports.

Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE) is an association representing the interests of European natural gas infrastructure operators active in natural gas transmission, storage and LNG regasification. GIE is a trusted partner of European institutions, regulatory bodies and industry stakeholders. It is based in Brussels, the heart of European policymaking.

GIE currently represents 70 member companies from 25 countries. Its internal structure has three columns corresponding to the three types of infrastructure activities represented: GTE (Gas Transmission Europe), GSE (Gas Storage Europe) and GLE (Gas LNG Europe), all of which fall under the umbrella of GIE. This structure allows member companies to speak with one voice on infrastructure topics as well as to build positions on column-specific issues. To find out more about GIE’s structure and activities, please visit the website at www.gie.eu .
